About AirAttack
Poster: EQ Worry 01/07/2010, 17:51

This topic is for everyone who for some reason wants to know something more about AirAttack team/community of LFS drivers. First I'll try to give you some background information, then a bit of past experiences, the current situation, and outlook for the future.

History

AirAttack was a community of people playing mostly the AirAttack WW2 flight simulator online game and various other games, such as FPS actions. AA LFS servers were just one of many other run by the AA community, mostly concentrated around BL2R (reversed rally), before it was removed from demo racing. Unfortunately removing BL2R (and BL1R) from demo at the beginning of 2008 caused steady drop of general interest in LFS and many old members disappeared or became inactive.

I myself have joined AA at the end of 2007. While developing Airio in the spring and summer of 2008, which in time became much bigger than was the initial intention, my responsibilities somehow grew and slowly I became the person doing changes and deciding most of the things. My intention was then (and it remains unchanged) to run popular demo LFS servers with as much automated actions as reasonably possible.

Recent events

During the time the AA community grew, because we generally accepted everyone showing interest and racing activity. It reached over 100 members at one time but then it sort of collapsed on itself. All the members have some kick/ban rights, but they were applying them unevenly and there's been even disputes among members, leading also to split in the community and formation of MRc.

This was a signal something is very wrong. An attempt to create real team of people that now each other, that are calm and that understand what can be expected of demo community followed. This attempt still goes on. Many inactive members were removed, additional rights were also removed from people who were clearly misusing them or kicking/banning for simple mistakes.

Present time

Also LFS became the most active part of the AA community, while interest in the other games faded. The costs of dedicated AA box turned out to be impossible to cover, so just recently AA demo servers were moved to a trusted provider, 500servers. A new domain was created, airattackteam.com, which should soon contain everything related to AA, both general and team discussions. The site is shared with a very respected LFS team, Ready2Roll, under Genuine Racing cooperation mark.

AA has now six demo servers, which is probably the ideal number covering nicely people's interest and needs. We support mainly sprint races, because that is what LFS people look for. There was a demo series, there are regular endurance races (only FBM for now, but more is planned).

The future

Currently no big changes in the servers are planned. We'd like to stay popular and help LFS to survive these rather weak months without any updates. There will be some changes in Airio, the system managing all servers, because it is constantly developing. Custom voting system could be a great addition.

I'd very much hope LFS developers would change their mind about excluding reversed Blackwood tracks from demo. In my view this was proven to be a very bad decision, thinning demo community with serious impact to licensed racing as well. Several times I tried contacting devs with this suggestions for a very simple yet substantial change, so far I got no response at all, which is somehow depressing.

Your corrections, different view, suggestion, or general comments are welcome.

& Genuine Racing?
Poster: Framaris 12/05/2010, 10:28

Ready2Roll, Rasta4Racing and AirAttack are happy to present you their new cooperation team called Genuine Racing!

What is Genuine Racing?

First thing to understand is that we are not merging, all teams keep their identities and specialities, we are like the members of one same family called Genuine Racing where we share the best we have. The ‘’&’’ is the symbol of our cooperation (R2R & R4R & AA ) and will be used in front of all the cooperation servers names. Like most teams in LFS, we all have some limitations and we all miss something, we are also fighting the same problems like inactivity which often ends up killing the teams. So we have decided to compensate those handicaps by joining our forces and abilities, it means that the name Genuine Racing will be used for all the cooperation’s products like Dailycious Series, LFS Endurance Series and any other we’ll create or manage together. We enjoy each other’s company and we love racing together, so we are also going join our forces and share our best drivers for all the major LFS leagues next year under the Genuine Racing team name, to be elected for each leagues, drivers will have to go through a selection system which will keep motivation and competition high, even between the leagues.

Also to keep it simple for everyone, all the Genuine Racing competitions, leagues and series will be organize and published from one website: http://www.ready2rollteam.com/

Genuine Racing leaders:
AA EQ Worry (EQ Worry), R4R Matty (Mattydread) and R2R Framaris (Framaris).

Dailycious Series Part3!
Poster: Framaris 25/04/2010, 19:25

Dailycious Series Part3!

After a great racing year in 2009 we had a well deserved winter break (nothing worse than tired admins to manage a server), during that time we’ve seen LFS take the arcade road, the much awaited patch is creating a strange ambiance which is making the community lose its sim racers. So before everyone leaves we are going to try to make a small contribution to sim racing, so the idea is to restart dailycious for 10 weeks before the summer. This time it will be a little different, we have spent the winter creating a close cooperation between Ready2Roll & AirAttack & Rasta4Racing & Eteam (more on this later…), so 4 servers will run daylicious, & AA demo, & R4R TBO/GTI, & R2R GEN and a 4th server which we will call & R2R GEN PRO for now. The idea here is to have one team dedicated to each server running dailycious. The series will be open for everyone as always, the racing will be organized with sim racing spirit and with different levels of difficulty, races will have different length and many cars will be used… We will use the safety handicap (GTi/TBO, GEN) for driver under the 70% (!safe), meaning that 5kg extra mass will added for each 5% under the 70% to unsafe drivers, new drivers on our servers will be attributed a safety index of 70% when they join the first time, so it will be up to them to maintain it to avoid handicap. All servers stats will be reset, everyone will have equal chances at the start and you will be able to drive all cars with no licenses restrictions to drive them…

The & R2R GEN PRO server will be a bit different, we have been talking to many racers like us about using realistic settings and respecting wheel turn, inside view, H-shifter and manual clutch. But many say that they don’t use those settings because almost no one use them and it would mean being slower and that is not acceptable for most of us, so we want to start an experiment and use this server to do that. It means that the server will be restricted for those settings, interested racers will have to register and agree to a short contract to enter our Sim Club, only then they will be able to race on this server, others will be allowed to spectate. The server will have its own stats to allow us to compare them with others who use the same settings… Note that this server will be closely watched and replays will be saved, so in case of cheating, exclusion from this server will be definitive, no second chances or appeal will be possible. So if you think you are hardcore enough and want to try something different, follow this link (first week will stay public to give time to everyone to try it): ...php?f=67&t=674

Servers descriptions:

& AA Demo Racing: Managed by Air Attack team. Here we want to enter the demo scene and offer its racers some more serious racing on weekly basis. It will run the 3 allowed cars on BL1 and BL1R with 2 Dailycious races of 20min + 1lap every Sunday's with reversed grid for the second. The last week of dailycious all 3 cars will be used, one per race. Events will be every sunday's and a minimum of coper license will be necessary to enter the race.

Sunday's
Qualifications: 18 :30 UTC (25min)
Race1: 19 :00 UTC (20min+1lap)
Race2: 19:30 UTC (20min+1lap)

& R2R GEN Racing: Managed by Ready2Roll team. Here we will run 5 categories of cars GTL/GT2/GT1/FBM/FOX, Each category will run twice during the 10 weeks. One category per week and 1 tracks per week and we’ll have 2x20min + 1lap (No pit and with reverse grid for the second race) dailycious race every Monday's.

Monday's
Qualifications: 18 :30 UTC (25min)
Race1: 19 :00 UTC (20min+1lap)
Race2: 19:30 UTC (20min+1lap)

& R2R GEN PRO (Sim Club): Managed by the cooperation. So here we want to start a little experiment to see if we could get a group to like some more realistic ways of racing, by that we mean H-shifter, Manual clutch, original wheel turn and inside view. I know some will say that not everyone has a G25 and this was true a 2 or 3 years ago, but by now most ppls have one or similar. The server will be able to control things like the H-shifter, Manual clutch and inside view. Here we will use 10 of the 12 cars with H shifter, UF1, XFG, XRG, LX4, RB4, FXO, XRT, FZ5, UFR, FZR, with one car and one track per week. The server will be ''private'', but it will remain open for everyone to try during the first week of training (with easy UF1), we’ll do 8 laps sprint races with pit during the week and 40min + 1lap + pit Dailycious race every Wednesday's… Here there will be no safety handicap or minimum license to enter the events because registered racers will be considered as respectable sim racers…

Wednesday's
Qualifications: 18:30 UTC (25min)
Race: 19 :00 UTC (40min+1lap+pit)

& R4R GTI/TBO: Managed by Rasta4Racing. Like we’ve seen in many occasion TBO has ups and downs, so we will add the XFG and XRG which will give them 5 cars, Each car will run twice during the 10 weeks series. Here we will use only one car at the time and one track per week ending with 40min + 1lap + pit Dailycious race every Thursday's.

Thursday's
Qualifications: 18:30 UTC (25min)
Race: 19 :00 UTC (40min+1lap+pit)

All races are automatically managed by Airio, so schedule will be respected and you will be able to join the second in multi race events.

We are a big organisation and many of us will be racing most events, we hope you'll join the fun!

Have fun Racers!

Sim Club Registration (GEN PRO)
Poster: Framaris 25/04/2010, 10:19

Hello Sim Racers,

We have been talking to many racers like us about using realistic settings and respecting wheel turn, inside view, H shifter and manual clutch. But many says that they don’t use those settings because almost no one use them and it would mean being slower and that is not acceptable for most of us, so now we’ve started to dream that it would be possible to find enough motivated drivers to run a server dedicated to sim racing, I guess if you don’t try you will never know. So we need a server with its own stats to allow us to compare lap times and average lap times, a little series to motivate us and enough drivers willing to respect our sim rules…

So let’s start a ‘’Sim Club’’ , interested racers can register in this topic, The club will get its own forum group and a dedicated sub forum (& R2R GEN PRO) , Airio will be able to control things like the H shifter, Manual clutch and in car view at the start of each races, but sadly the system will not be perfect in the beginning and we will not be able to check the wheel turn for now. We advise everyone to use the original wheel turn, but it will not be required at this time.

The server will be name & R2R GEN PRO and we will use 10 of the 12 cars with H shifter, UF1, XFG, XRG, LX4, RB4, FXO, XRT, FZ5, UFR, FZR, with one car and one track per week .The server will be restricted to registered drivers, we’ll do 8 laps sprint races with pit during the week and 40min +1lap Dailycious race on Wednesday… Here there will be no safety handicap, no restrictions of any kind or minimum license to enter the events, we expected gentlemen racers to join and we hope you’ll be defending the idea on our side…

Sim Club Rules:

Everyone registering for the Sim Club agrees to respect those sim settings at all time when on GEN PRO server:
1-H shifter
2-Manual pedal clutch (no button or shift macro allowed)
3-Incar view
4-Original wheel turn advised (720° : XFG, XRG, XRT, RB4, FXO, LX4, UF1, UFR, FZ5 / 540° : FZR)

Note that this server will be closely watched/monitored and replays will be automatically saved, so In case of cheating, exclusion from this server will be definitive, no second chances or appeal will be possible.

Please register in this format: (use your license or race name to register to the forum)

Note that the server will remain public for the first week to give time to everyone to register!

LFS license:

Rules: I agree with the Sim Club rules above and will respect the sim settings at all times!
